A Vision Rooted in Our Early History
Long before Eden Jobs existed in its current form, the Eden Group ran two early online platforms in the late 1990s and early 2000s:
RecruitUK – helping churches and Christian charities list their job vacancies
ChurchUK – enabling organisations to build their first websites and to promote events and connect with a Christian audience
These early services were created with a simple goal: to give Christian ministries a trusted route to reach the people who cared about their mission. Even then, we saw the need for a shared Christian infrastructure that individual organisations could not easily build for themselves.
The Changing Digital Landscape
Over the years, the online world has shifted dramatically. Search engines and social media platforms such as Google, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok now keep an increasing proportion of their visitors on their own sites—acting as powerful gatekeepers between ministries and the people they are trying to reach. This has made it harder, not easier, for churches and charities to get visibility for their jobs, events, resources, and appeals.
The Eden Group recognised early that the Church would need a digital strategy beyond simply “posting on social media” or hoping people would find them through search.
