Jobs & Volunteering Board: Posting Guidelines
The Jobs & Volunteering board is designed to help people discover clear, credible employment and volunteering opportunities within, or hosted by, formally established organisations in the UK and beyond.
To keep listings useful, trustworthy and easy to understand, all posts should meet the following guidelines.
What to include in your listing
Listings should describe a specific opportunity and normally include:
- The name of the organisation offering the role
- Whether the opportunity is paid employment or voluntary
- A clear description of the role, including what the person will be doing
- The structure or context of the role (e.g. team, location, time commitment)
- How the role is supported or overseen within the organisation
- Practical details such as start date, duration, hours, or flexibility where relevant
- A clear way to apply or enquire
- The tone should be informative and factual, helping readers understand whether the opportunity is a good fit for them.
What the board is intended for
The board is intended for opportunities that:
- Are part of an organisation, church, charity or recognised ministry with accountable leadership
- Offer a defined role or placement, even where flexibility is involved
- Involve an appropriate level of care, accountability and safeguarding
- Enable people to contribute their time, skills or experience in a structured way
Keeping the board helpful for everyone
Opportunities that are clearly described and well-scoped are more likely to:
- Reach the right people
- Build trust with applicants and volunteers
- Be approved quickly and remain visible
If an opportunity is exploratory, informal, or primarily promotional in nature, it may be better suited to other channels such as church communications, newsletters or social media.
